Every year since the beginning of all This Way Up years, Lisa (Live Cinema UK), Greg (Pilot Light TV Festival) and Michael (Cinema Nation/Scalarama) have embraced the power of song and hosted an unofficial This Way Up Karaoke.

What started as a mere handful of delegates belting out Bon Jovi tunes in various karaoke bars around the North, has now become an infamous tradition.

You’ll find many a veteran of previous years’ already prepping their set-list, and recounting tales of extreme highs (Kate Bush) and extreme lows, you’ll also find they will welcome newcomers with open arms, and voices.

Ever the gracious hosts, the venue for the occasion is a mere stones throw from FACT, on the very same street.

Join the most informal of networking events, meet your fellow delegates, cinephiles and karaoke fans, begin Islands in the Stream with a complete stranger and end it with a friend for life… but just make sure you’re ready and raring to go for Day 2 of This Way Up…
